Congressman August Pfluger of Texas's 11th District has opened submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. This event provides high school students in the district an opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building.
The theme for this year's competition is "Texas to Me," and students have until April 21st to submit their pieces. Detailed information about the competition, including application procedures, is available on Congressman Pfluger's website.
“Each year, I am completely blown away by the talent and creativity of so many incredible young artists throughout Texas-11 during the Congressional Art Competition,” said Rep. Pfluger. “I am looking forward to another fantastic year and seeing how each student uniquely illustrates what Texas means to them in their artwork. Texas is the best place to live and raise a family, and I am incredibly blessed to represent the 11th district and facilitate this competition for these inspiring young artists.”
The winning student's artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for one year. The unveiling will occur at a Congressional Reception in Washington, D.C., scheduled for late June, with winners invited along with one guest. Additional prizes may also be announced.
Eligible artworks must be two-dimensional and original, adhering to the "Texas to Me" theme. Dimensions should not exceed 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. Accepted mediums include paintings (oil, acrylics, watercolor), drawings (colored pencil, pencil, ink), collages (two-dimensional), prints (lithographs), mixed media (more than two mediums), computer-generated art, and photographs.
