A group of 35 Republican lawmakers, led by Congressman August Pfluger from Texas, have expressed their support for President Trump's administration's efforts to protect American industries and jobs. This endorsement was conveyed through a letter which contrasts the current administration's stance with that of its predecessor.

The lawmakers have urged President Trump to address issues concerning Vulcan Materials Company during discussions on trade and border security with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. They highlighted the closure of Vulcan Materials' limestone quarry and deepwater port in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in 2022, which they attribute to inaction by the previous U.S. administration.

The letter states: "Mexico must resolve this crisis by engaging in good faith negotiations to account for their illegal actions." The representatives emphasized Vulcan Materials Company's role as the largest producer of construction aggregates in the United States and its contribution to infrastructure development both domestically and in Mexico.

Concerns were also raised about reports suggesting potential funding from the Chinese Communist Party for the adjacent Mayan Train project. The lawmakers requested an investigation into this matter, citing possible implications for U.S. national security due to the project's strategic location near Florida.

This initiative follows Rep. Pfluger's past efforts to defend Vulcan Materials, including introducing legislation known as the Defending American Property Abroad Act and leading a bipartisan letter seeking answers from Mexico regarding its actions against the company.

The correspondence concludes with an acknowledgment of President Trump's leadership: "Thank you for your leadership and commitment to upholding American First interests."
