Audrey Brooks, Widow and Mother of Five, Passes Away at 93

Midland, April 9, 2025 – Audrey Lumpkin Brooks, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on April 9, 2025. Audrey Brooks, born on February 24, 1932, in Texarkana, Texas, met her husband, Henry Hoyt Brooks, while working at Red River Arsenal. The couple tied the knot in 1953 and relocated to Midland in 1957, where she spent the rest of her life.

A proud housewife and mother, Audrey Brooks eventually joined Carter’s Furniture as a bookkeeper in 1971, remaining a loyal employee for three decades. Known for her love of family, Audrey Brooks leaves behind a rich legacy of affection and forgiveness. She passed away at the age of 93, leaving behind numerous descendants, including five children, 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing arrangements are scheduled for Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a graveside service to follow at Resthaven Cemetery on Saturday at 3 p.m. The service will be overseen by Nalley-Pickle & Welch. Attendees are encouraged to wear blue, Audrey Brooks’ favorite color.
