Michael August Timlin, born on March 10, 1966, in Midland, Texas, passed away on September 29, 2023. Timlin, a former professional baseball relief pitcher, achieved prominence in his 18-year career, notably contributing to four World Series championship teams—the 1992 and 1993 Toronto Blue Jays, as well as the 2004 and 2007 Boston Red Sox. Graduating from Midland High School, he played college baseball at Southwestern University. Timlin’s career included stints with the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Boston Red Sox. Known for his 93 mph fastball, he amassed 1,058 MLB appearances, ranking eighth all-time. Timlin, a versatile pitcher, faced injuries but overcame to win championships. He was an honored recipient of the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award in 2007. Timlin’s legacy extends beyond baseball, as he organized charity events and was inducted into Southwestern University’s Hall of Fame in 2010. He leaves behind a significant impact on the baseball community.
