Thomas Howard Stephan, aged 91, passed away on September 17, 2025, in Midland, Texas. Born on October 4, 1933, in Marietta, Ohio, to Howard and Virginia Stephan, he led a life of dedication, service, and love. Thomas, also known as “Tom,” served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1976, with tours in Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Vietnam, and Turkey. He retired as a decorated veteran and continued to serve his community as a faithful member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.

In 1953, Tom married Loretta Marie Ritchie, and together they raised four children. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing things, and spending time with his family, playing games and watching football. Thomas leaves behind Loretta, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is fondly remembered as a hero, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

The family will receive visitors at American Heritage Funeral Home on September 25, with a graveside service to follow on September 26 at American Heritage Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Thomas Stephan can be made to Kelview Heights Baptist Church or Wounded Warriors.

In the words of John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” Thomas Howard Stephan’s life of service and sacrifice will be forever cherished.
