Midland, Texas – Wanda Jean Howell, 85, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in Midland, Texas, leaving behind cherished memories of a life well-lived and deeply loved. Born on December 15, 1939, in Oenaville, Texas, Wanda devoted her life to her family, her faith, and her community, touching the lives of many with her kindness and generosity.

After graduating from Midland High School in 1958, Wanda met the love of her life, Joe Howell, whom she married in 1957. Together, they raised a family and shared a lifetime of love and memories. Wanda’s career in the oil industry was marked by dedication and hard work, making lasting friendships along the way at Marathon Oil Co before retiring in 1996.

A woman of deep faith, Wanda found joy in volunteering at the National Kidney Foundation and the Wagner Noel, embodying her passion for helping others. She was an active member of the Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa, where she devoted her time to various volunteer activities and spreading love and kindness to all those around her.

Wanda’s family was at the center of her life, bringing her profound joy and happiness. She treasured moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding immense love and fulfillment in her role as a mother, grandmother, and Gigi.

Known for her love of the MOJO football team, her passion for cooking, and her joy in traveling and hosting gatherings, Wanda’s vibrant spirit and warm personality made her a beloved presence in the lives of many. Her compassion, welcoming nature, and talent for bringing people together will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Wanda is survived by her children Terri & David Franklin, Greg and Karen Howell, Karel and Nate Zaleski, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Garcille Bauer, and many relatives and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and love.

The family extends their gratitude to Legacy Ranch Memory Care and Interim Hospice for their compassionate care during Wanda’s final days. Donations in Wanda’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Association or a charity of choice.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Wanda Jean Howell will be held at Nalley Pickle Welch Chapel on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11 a.m., honoring her legacy of love and devotion to family and community.
