There were 1,271 students enrolled in Kermit ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53% of them were boys, and 47% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 81.5% of the Kermit ISD total enrollment.

Kermit ISD roughly covers schools within Winkler County with its main office in Kermit.

Among the three schools in Kermit ISD, Kermit Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 521 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
