There were 150 white students enrolled in Rankin ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Rankin ISD schools welcomed 318 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 47.2% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Rankin ISD roughly covers schools within Upton County and has a main office in Rankin.

Rankin School was the only school in the district which enrolled white students, welcoming 150 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
