Gregory Kieffer Gutting, 76, of Midland, Texas, Dies Following Brief Battle with Cancer

Gregory Kieffer Gutting passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Midland, Texas, after a sudden and brief battle with cancer. Known as Greg, he was a devoted husband to Debby for 44 years and a loving father to Trey and Ashley. Born on October 3, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Greg was the eldest child of the late Col. Louis Jacob Gutting and Kathleen (Kieffer) Gutting.

Following his father's military career, Greg traveled extensively and eventually settled in San Antonio, where he found his passion for teaching high school history and geography. Known for his generosity and excellence, Greg made a lasting impact both in and out of the classroom, coaching wrestling and youth soccer.

After retirement in 2009, Greg and Debby returned to Midland, where he embraced his love for history by becoming a docent for the High Sky Wing of The Commemorative Air Force. He will be remembered for his dedication to education and unwavering support for those around him.

Greg is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, followed by a graveside service on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
