Congressman August Pfluger of Texas has issued a statement regarding the recent hostage deal between Israel and Hamas. The agreement resulted in the release of 33 hostages who had been held for over 15 months.
Pfluger credited President Trump's leadership for securing the release, contrasting it with what he described as a failure by President Biden to achieve the same outcome. "Just days before President Trump takes office, his decisive leadership has already secured the release of 33 hostages from Hamas captivity — a deal that President Biden failed to secure for well over a year," Pfluger stated.
The congressman expressed gratitude for the release of these individuals, acknowledging their prolonged suffering and looking forward to their reunion with family members. He emphasized that under Trump's administration, there will be a continued focus on ensuring the safety of American citizens and allies.
Pfluger also highlighted a commitment to prevent terrorist organizations from using innocent lives as leverage. While celebrating this achievement, he reiterated dedication to freeing all remaining hostages. "Under President Trump, we will return to an era of peace through strength," Pfluger concluded.
