Deacon Fidel Hector Saldivar, Dedicated Servant of God, Passes Away at 72

Deacon Fidel Hector Saldivar, born on June 30, 1952, answered the call to serve God and His Church. He peacefully passed away at home with his family on February 4, 2025. Fidel was a devoted deacon, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life exemplified faith, family, and community.

Ordained as a deacon in the Diocese of San Angelo in 2004, Deacon Saldivar faithfully served at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church for two decades, touching the lives of many through his homilies, sacraments, charitable works, and unwavering devotion. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, he embodied the virtues of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism, actively contributing to his community and assisting those in need.

Preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Estrada Saldivar, Fidel is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Alicia Cisneros Saldivar, children Fidel Alberto Saldivar and Marissa Saldivar White, grandchildren, and other cherished family members.

A Rosary service will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home & Chapel on February 6, 2025, and at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church on February 7, 2025, followed by a Mass celebrated at St. Stephen’s on February 8, 2025, with Bishop Michael J. Sis presiding. The family appreciates plant donations as a lasting tribute in lieu of flowers.

Deacon Fidel H. Saldivar's legacy of service and faith will be remembered and honored as he is commended to the mercy of the Lord. “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).
