Educator and Veteran Melvin Gene Clark, 95, Passes Away in Midland

Midland—Melvin Gene Clark, a former U.S. Air Force serviceman and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, at Legacy Ranch Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Midland, Texas. Born on September 28, 1929, in Vowells Mill, Louisiana, Clark leaves behind a legacy of service and commitment to his family.

Clark served in the U.S. Air Force and later embarked on a teaching career spanning nearly six decades, leaving a lasting impact on countless students at various educational institutions. Alongside his teaching career, Clark spent summers driving for Dr. Pepper, Groendyke Transport, and as a school bus driver, demonstrating his love for the open road and ensuring smooth operations at school sporting events.

Described as an avid hunter and fisherman, Clark's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by four children, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his brother. Clark joins his wife, daughter, and siblings in heaven.

Melvin Gene Clark's dedication to education, love for the outdoors, and unwavering devotion to his family will continue to be cherished by those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home following a viewing at 1:00 PM, with interment at American Heritage Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be sent to the Clark family via the Sympathy Store.
