Ruben D. Sawyers, lovingly called "Buzz," passed away peacefully in Odessa, Texas at the age of 83. Born on September 24, 1941, in Corbin, Kentucky to George and Julia Sawyers, Buzz's resilient spirit and unwavering determination shaped his life from an early age.

Buzz's enduring love story with his wife, Gertie Sawyers, spanned over 59 years. Their commitment to each other was a testament to lasting love and companionship, with Buzz referring to Gertie as his "Teenage Queen." Their family home was a haven of faith, hard work, and devotion to family.

A man known for his integrity, sharp mind, and strong work ethic, Buzz dedicated decades to the oil and gas industry, excelling in Superior Engines and passing on his knowledge to younger generations. His true pride and joy were his sons, whom he raised with discipline, love, and a strong emphasis on education.

Preceded in death by his wife Gertie and other family members, Buzz is survived by his sons Ruben Jr., George, and Jimmy, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of love and hard work.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at American Heritage Funeral Home, with the funeral service taking place on Friday, February 21, 2025. Buzz will be laid to rest beside Gertie in Corbin, Kentucky, where their journey began, now finding peace together.

As Buzz is lovingly remembered by those whose lives he touched, his memory will continue to serve as a guiding light for his cherished family.
