Jean Hildreth, Talented Artist and Sharpshooter, Passes Away at 90

Jean Hildreth | Nalley-Pickle & welch Funeral Home & Crematory

Jean Hildreth, 90, of Lenorah, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 24, 2025. Jean was born on September 14, 1934, in San Saba, Texas, to Robert and Eunice Anderson. She was a twin and the first of 10 children, and grew up enjoying various adventures across Texas, Nevada, and California.

Jean was a skilled artist, adept at oil and pastel paintings. She was also known for her sharpshooting abilities, often impressing with her precise aim. An outdoors enthusiast, Jean had a passion for fishing, camping, hiking, hunting for pottery and arrowheads, and kayaking. She was a competitive volleyball player and a blue ribbon winner at the County Fair for her French Vanilla Ice Cream.

She is survived by her children Robert Hildreth, Debbie McMurry, Kim Decker-Welch, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin sister, husband Walter, siblings, and daughter-in-law Trisha Hildreth.

The family expresses their gratitude to the communities of Lenorah, Tarzan, and Stanton, as well as the medical staff at various hospitals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

A visitation will be held on February 27, 2025, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton, Texas, with services to follow at Evergreen Chapel, Evergreen Cemetery, on February 28, 2025.
