Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) recently convened a meeting in Midland, Texas, with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Scott Mason and Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (ND-At-large) to address energy issues. The event included a visit to the Permian Basin and a roundtable with local leaders and stakeholders, aimed at discussing federal oil and gas regulations.

"Everything we do depends on energy dominance and the ability to produce affordable, reliable energy, and with President Trump back in office, the future of American energy has never been brighter," stated Rep. Pfluger. He emphasized the importance of the Permian Basin to the nation's energy strategy and expressed the commitment of Congress and the Trump administration to support domestic energy production.

Scott Mason, representing the EPA, echoed sentiments heard from local energy firms, saying, "During my visit to the Permian Basin today, I heard over and over from energy companies of all sizes that they want common-sense regulations for emissions and wastewater." He expressed willingness to work towards such regulatory frameworks.

Congresswoman Fedorchak highlighted the energy security importance of the Permian Basin, stating, "The Permian Basin is key to America’s energy security, and visiting the region with Rep. Pfluger offered a valuable up-close perspective on the shared challenges our energy producers face." She criticized federal regulations for stifling growth and innovation and appreciated the commitment expressed by the EPA's Mason to provide clarity for energy producers.

The event provided government officials an opportunity to meet with local industry members at the Petroleum Club of Midland, offering a closer look at how oil and gas operations manage modern challenges. Discussions included maintaining minimal regulation while ensuring safe and clean operations.

Following the site visit, Rep. Pfluger and his colleagues met with local oil and gas companies at the Diamondback Energy oil rig. They reviewed technologies used in energy production and discussed strategies to balance regulation with industry growth and safety.

This visit is part of ongoing efforts by the Trump Administration and Republican Congressional members to streamline energy regulations and boost domestic production across key U.S. regions. Rep. Pfluger, along with his colleagues, emphasized continued collaboration with the Trump administration to support the American energy sector.
