George Luis Fierro | Nalley-Pickle & welch Funeral Home & Crematory

George Luis Fierro, aged 69, of Midland, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2025. He was born on June 9, 1955, in Big Spring, Texas, to Emiliano Alvarado Fierro and Maria Del Refugio Sarmiento.

A devoted member of the community, George graduated from the University of Texas at Permian Basin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. He had a fulfilling career with the YMCA, serving in various locations, including Culver City, California. George was also an active participant in the Chicano Golf Association and the Knights of Columbus at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.

George had a passion for handball, golf, beach time, and cruises. He deeply cherished spending time with his family, especially his sons, Christopher and Andrew.

Survived by his sons, brother, and sister, George is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Sandy) Fierro, parents Emiliano Alvarado Fierro and Maria Del Refugio Sarmiento, as well as siblings Gabe, Felix Fierro, and Connie Johnson.

The family extends their gratitude to the medical teams at Fresenius Kidney Care Permian Basin and Texas Oncology. Memorial donations can be made to selected charities in memory of George.

A viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, with a funeral mass on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.
