MIDLAND, Texas — Dr. Norman Gould, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and longtime resident of Midland, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on June 17, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, to Edna and Irving Goldstein, Norman leaves behind a lasting legacy of community involvement and dedication to service.

After marrying Evelyn Rubin in 1951, Norman pursued a career in optometry, serving as a First Lieutenant Optometry Officer in the U.S. Air Force before settling in Midland, Texas, where he and Evelyn ran a successful optometric practice for nearly 40 years. Norman continued practicing until 2016, known for his unwavering commitment to providing eyecare to the community.

A dedicated member of the Midland Downtown Lions Club, Norman was instrumental in establishing the Eyeglass Recycling Program and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. He volunteered his time with various community organizations and maintained a strong bond with the Midland Community Theatre, where he and Evelyn worked behind the scenes and even took the spotlight on stage together.

Norman's faith was central to his life, as a devoted member of Temple Beth El in Odessa, TX. Following the passing of Evelyn and his companion Connie DeMasi, Norman found solace and support from his family, who remained by his side until the end.

Norman is survived by his children Neil Gould, Elliott Forrest, and Ilene Gould; grandchildren Eric and Michael Gould, Shayna Isenberg, Tyler and Michael Forrest; great-grandchildren Ella and Norah Gould. Donations in his memory can be made to the Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center Foundation or The Midland Community Theatre.

A graveside service will be held on February 28, 2025, at Resthaven Memorial Park, with a memorial service to follow at Ellis Funeral Home. Online condolences can be shared at ellisfunerals.com.
