Midland - Mary Martinez Costilla, born on October 6, 1948, in Midland, Texas, to Jesus H. Costilla and Selestina Martinez, peacefully passed away on January 17, 2025. Mary was the seventh child of nine, and she attended school at Austin Junior High before graduating from Flower Grove High School in May 1969.

After completing her education, Mary embarked on a career that included positions at Levi Strauss, Texas Plastics, and Texas Instruments. Despite facing health challenges, she continued her passion for sewing, specializing in creating drapes and curtains from her home. Known for her jovial nature, Mary enjoyed singing, socializing, and engaging in games like dominoes, cards, and bingo, relishing victories over her brother Joe. She found joy in being a grandmother to neighborhood children and stray dogs, deeply loving her chihuahuas Pepe and Prieta.

Mary will be dearly missed by those who cherished her warm presence and infectious spirit. She is survived by her brother John Costilla and sisters Evelyn Garza, Helen Costilla, and Victoria Saul, all of Midland, Texas. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
