Ella Mae Walters Armstrong was born on May 22, 1935, in Wenatchee, Washington, to Ray Oren and Mabel Claire Somerville Walters. She grew up in a bustling and affectionate household as the sixth of seven children. On June 29, 1957, she married Gordon Armstrong, with whom she shared 52 years of cherished memories.   After retiring from her 35-year career with the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroad, Ella faithfully contributed to Sierra Heights Baptist Church in Renton, Washington, teaching Sunday school and participating in various activities. Her passion for family, baseball, and her favorite sports teams knew no bounds. Ella embraced a life of adventure, from camping to traversing the country in her motorhome, creating lasting memories at Lake Cushman and the Oregon coast.

Ella Mae is survived by her adoring children: Denise Cahill, Deanna Schuh (Kenneth), Darren Armstrong (Rebecca), and Doreen Armstrong (Michelle); along with her sister, Peggy Rowley, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit, deep love, and unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Ella Mae will forever be remembered for her boundless joy, quiet strength, and the love she shared with her family. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
